This week I interviewed work at home dad Rob McDougall from Cuddle Mummy Love. After leaving behind the fast paced life of a film and TV producer, Rob started up a home based business with wife Monique. In this interview he shares some fantastic tips for work at home parents.
When I started out as a solo entrepreneur, there were few resources specifically for solo business owners (no employees), and lots of dubious, hype-y internet marketing websites and products. Solo-E was designed to help solo entrepreneurs find Experts they can trust, who offer time-tested guidance on how to be a successful solopreneur.
Daily Baby Buys was created in August 2011. I was regularly sending products to the US (another one of my businesses) for the Baby Deal site (they have many) to try and get my product into the US market. I always wondered why we didn’t have anything like that here, so I sat down with my two business partners at the time to nut out the finer details and build the website.
Has your Facebook page inbox been spammed since the new timeline came into being? My guess is “yes.” Or maybe you’ve sent someone a message and are unsure if it was appropriate or not. Here’s a key pointer to help you figure out how to use Facebook Page messaging to network your business.
If you’ve ever advertised in mainstream media or thought about doing so, this post is for you! The other day, a colleague and I had a meeting with a potential client who is looking to get started with social media. We asked him how much he spent on advertising and I nearly fell off my chair when he told us! He said he was spending up to $15,000 per year on advertising with no discernible return on investment. $15,000!!!!!!
Tell us a little about the person behind the business?
I am Jeni Pizzi, a 30-year-old mum of 3 gorgeous children, twin girls who are ten and the world’s cheekiest 3 year old and Partner to Greg. I am addicted to all things handmade and juggle kids, a part time job and two businesses–mine and his. There are never enough hours in the day to get everything done. My favourite colours are green and pink and I have an obsession with pretty stationery, peacocks and of course anything handmade.
Studies show that your reasons for wanting to work from home can shape the path your business takes and determine whether or not it will be a successful economic venture. People who are “pushed” into working from home are more likely to give up than people who are “pulled” towards working from home. The same studies also show that the majority of people who work from home are women and that the primary motivation for establishing a home based enterprise is not financial, but rather driven by an internal desire for a change in lifestyle, or to follow a passion or dream.
The other day our 30 metre long, 1.6 metre high wooden retaining wall snapped and fell over after a heavy downpour. My initial reaction was: “Oh no! How are we going to pay for that?” However, in the days since I’ve had an “aha” moment and I wanted to share it with you, because, for me, it’s changed EVERYTHING!
In the past year or so, I have found some fantastic news sites, blogs and blog aggregator websites and I sift through these daily to find great content to share. Here are my 10 top sites for info about home based business (aside from Support a WAHP ofcourse!):
There is a reason why interviews on blogs and in the media are so compelling. They increase the “know-like-trust” factor we are so fond of talking about in marketing. Like testimonies, stories that highlight the person behind the business, reach prospects on a whole new level. People love to hear the behind-the-scenes goss about celebrities (ehem, yes, I do read those magazines in the chiropractor’s waiting room) but your prospects want to hear the behind-the-scenes goss about you.
